Construction Precautions: Thermal Expansion and Contraction

All plastic materials exhibit certain thermal expansion and contraction characteristics.
During construction in the scorching heat of summer or the severe cold of winter
it is essential to leave a reasonable expansion gap of approximately 1โ€“2 mm at the joints.

A: We manufacture PVC sheets with densities ranging from 0.35 g/cmยณ to 0.90 g/cmยณ. Lighter densities are perfect for signage and display, while higher densities (0.50 g/cmยณ and above) are highly recommended for cabinetry, furniture making, and exterior trimboards due to their superior screw-holding strength and rigidity.
A: Rigid PVC and PVC foam sheet may be cut with a circular saw (using a very fine-toothed blade made for plastic panels, veneer or plywood). For best results, it is often better to cut just a few corrugated panels at a time to reduce vibration. Clamping the panels also helps. (But be careful clamping multiwall to avoid compression.) If using a standard circular saw blade, better results may be seen by running the blade backwards (remove and turn it over to reverse direction). Depending on thickness, some panels may also be cut by hand by carefully using tin snips or a utility knife.
A: Store sheets in a protected, shaded, ventilated site, with no direct exposure to sunlight and winds. For outdoor temporary storage, cover with an opaque protective tarp, avoiding heat-absorbing materials.
A: We manufacture products with a thickness range from 1mm up to 40mm. Our standard sheet sizes include 1220x2440mm, 1560x3050mm, 2050x3050mm, and 915x1830mm. Additionally, any sizes can be fully customized as per the customer’s specific request.
