Installation Guide

โ‘ . Cutting: Using standard woodworking equipment. For power miter saws, carbide tooth blades are recommended. Do not use fine-tooth metal-cutting blades, do not use plywood or metal blades because the kerf of the blade is too thin and can cause heat buildup in the material. To maintain a smooth edge, support the trim across its entire length when you cut it.
โ‘ก. Drilling: Do not use bits made for rigid pvc, avoid heat buildup from excessive friction, and remove the shavings from the drill hole frequently.
โ‘ข. Gluing: Temperature variation will cause pvc trim board and mouldings to expand and contract. To prevent open miter joints, we highly recommend gluing all joints using a quality instant glue or pvc cement, always test adhesive brands before using. You should use a combination of glue and mechanical fasteners, such as โ€œ glue and screwโ€, only glue is not enough to ensure a long-term bond.

โ‘ฃ. Painting: BOTO Trim products does not require painting but, like any pvc product, it will weather over time and painting will enhance these beautiful products and help them maintain color consistency for many years. 100% acrylic latex paint is recommended.
โ‘ค. Nailing:Use corrosion-resistant, smooth shank, annular threaded or spiral type nails, at least 6d in size and long enough to penetrate at least 1 1 /4″ into the substrate, stainless steel or hot-dipped galvanized nails or screws are recommended. Nails should be placed 12″ on center and, if possible, 3 /4″ from each edge.
โ‘ฅ. Cleaning:Use a soft bristle brush and a bucket of soapy water to remove normal dirt and grime. For especially stubborn stains, use a cleaner suitable for pvc products. Your local building materials retailers can supply several different brands, better test any cleaners before use.

Siding Transition & Termination: During exterior wall construction, when siding panels reach the perimeter of windows or doors, the substantial edge of the Backband Cap serves as a perfect “backstop.” This not only conceals any imperfections in the cut edges of the siding panels but also provides an excellent interface for sealing.
โ‘ข. Baseboard Cap: In interior areas prone to high humidity (such as bathrooms or basements), the Backband Cap can be inverted and installed atop a thick baseboard; acting as a decorative cap molding, it simultaneously provides effective protection against water and moisture.
โ‘ฃ. Wainscoting & Chair Rail Cap: When installing wainscoting (half-wall paneling), the Backband Cap frequently serves as the uppermost finishing trim, utilizing its integrated groove to precisely lock onto and cap the top edge of the wainscoting assembly.

You can use the same high-quality fasteners typically used for wood installation. Standard nail guns perform excellently with BOTO Moulding and Trim Boards. Important Note: Never use staples, brads, or wire nails. The shanks of these fasteners are too small in diameter to adequately control the natural thermal expansion and contraction of the PVC material.
No, BOTO Moulding and Trim Boards are non-load-bearing and cannot be used in structural applications. They are designed strictly as decorative components. For any structural requirements, proper wood or metal load-bearing components must be incorporated. Always consult with your architect or builder to determine structural needs before installation.
No, BOTO Moulding and Trim Boards usually do not require paint for protection. However, they can be easily painted if you wish to achieve a custom color match for your project or to neatly conceal filled nail holes.
